Mission
Statement
PANA
is an all-volunteer neighborhood association incorporated
as a non-profit, comprised of residents of Goleta, particularly
North Goleta. We are committed to educating and informing,
as well as organizing and providing a forum for citizen action,
on issues of concern to Goleta. We are committed to preservation
of our current quality of life through orderly, well-paced
and well-planned development of Goleta. We believe Santa Barbara
County must give priority to needs and concerns of current
residents and businesses, over those of future residents and
businesses. To this end, we support:
- The
Goleta Growth Management Ordinance, and want no further
exemptions or amendments to be enacted that weaken its effectiveness.
- Preservation
of open space and agricultural land in Goleta, and throughout
Santa Barbara County.
- Creation
of additional parks that are easily accessible to existing
Goleta neighborhoods.
- All
efforts to improve traffic circulation in the Goleta Valley
that retain community character.
- Development
that is mindful of aesthetics and maintains or improves
the natural beauty of the Goleta Valley.
- Strengthened
schools and neighborhoods, because strong schools form the
nuclei of strong neighborhoods, and strong neighborhoods
form the nuclei of strong communities.
- Full
funding for all street, sidewalk and landscape maintenance
improvements, and infrastructure for fire and police protection,
flood control, schools, libraries, parks and recreation.
- Implementation
of the Goleta Community Plan, as long as it furthers the
aforementioned goals.
- Open
and continuous dialogue between PANA, other neighborhood,
civic, and business groups, and representatives of the City
and County of Santa Barbara, to satisfactorily resolve issues
of mutual interest and concern.
- Reasoned
examination, evaluation and consideration of annexation
and/or incorporation efforts which share our goals, because
we believe residents of the Goleta Valley must have a more
direct voice in development and civic issues.
- Active
citizen and neighborhood participation in the economic,
social, and political life of Goleta.
- Work
of other individuals and groups that share our vision and
concerns for Goleta.
